Short version: I present to you, the feeling of being swept away by music.
The longer version is: this is what I feel when I hear certain music, regardless of where I am or what I’m doing. It picks me up and carries me away, and I’m usually dancing up a storm inside my head.
(In this case, it’s me sitting quietly in the cafeteria at work, doing my best to just eat in peace, rather than put on a show.)
In case it was a mystery to anyone: this is one reason I love dancing so much. Dance lets me give some form to this feeling and ride that high for real. (Who needs drugs when I can farm my own endorphins with some good music and a decent floor? :D)
Good music and good dancing… nothing on earth quite like it.
My Chinese Zodiac is the year of the Tiger, and my boyfriend’s is the year of the Pig. I doodled this a while ago and cleaned it up in photoshop in October. This just about sums up our relationship, I’d say 😀
Ah…. summer time.
I had music on the brain, working on Pirate Swing ’17, and decided I wanted to update my FB cover photo (prooooobably should’ve looked up the accurate proportions first. Oops.) This is the result. I’m very proud that I didn’t use any reference for this, and the people still look like people and not terrifying sausage demons.
I realize it’s been roughly FOREVER since I’ve posted, and even then it was a bit sporadic, and I appologize to those of you who’ve been waiting for work. Real life has been keeping me busy and tired and it’s kept me from posting as much as I’d have liked.
I DO have a backlog of work that I’ll be posting soon, so you shouldn’t have to be disappointed in me THAT much longer 😀
Enjoy, and I’ll be seeing you folks around 🙂
Yeeeeep, it’s this thing 😀 (It’s a big image, so it may need a few moments to load)
Tagged folks, you don’t HAVE to do this if you don’t want to, but… you know you want to 😀
( Here’s the link to the template I used 🙂 )
In case you’ve been living under a rock, you might be aware that the new Star Wars movie opened in December, and ZOMG I loved it 😀
(Don’t worry, I won’t put any spoilers here, you’re safe 🙂 )
In preparation for the movie, I started drawing a jedi, based on my cat Emmy – and I think she makes a fine feline jedi knight if I do say so myself 😀
After that, I was having so much fun, I decided to draw one based on myself, but I didn’t want it to be just a boring drawing of regular ol’ me in a jedi robe, so I took some liberties with my species (largely the color scheme)
I kind of want her boots…
Lastly, I decided to make a jedi Jason, and I REALLY took some liberties there, but I am REALLY REALLY happy with the results 🙂
For background, during my birthday last year, we went to the EMP Museum in Seattle, dressed as a jedi and Queen Amedala – because we’re giant dorks. Jason ended up deciding to be a jedi slowly turning to the dark side after we drew some heavy black markings over his face. I decided to work that into my jedi Jason, and was partly inspired by Darth Maul’s interesting design for his look, (minus the evilness and toning down the demonic imagery significantly).
All the horns and spines, ftw 😀
I really love that teal mohawk look, I have to admit.
More shiny shiny artwork will be coming along as we move along into the new year, so stay tuned kids! 😀
Back in September I decided, just for funsies, to start another Gargoyle portrait while I had a little bit of time on my lunch break, and had a lot of fun with her.
Of course, Emmy had to join me for my rooftop sit 😀
After I showed it to Jason, he wanted to do one too, but had even less free time than I did, so while I was visiting him one Sunday afternoon, I drew one of him to go with mine 😀
Nothing to see here, just another commuter on their way to work.
Whew, it HAS been a long time. Sorry to leave you all hanging for so long, but I’ve been busy as can be for months now, with work, ze boyfriend, moving, and all sorts of other stuff. (And since it’s a hassle to post from my tablet and my desktop was being difficult and buggy, I just didn’t post for quite some while, rather than fight with them.)
A quick status update before I give you some sweet pictoral goodness (and my best efforts to start updating more regularly again):
I still work at Bellevue College and so far I still really like my job. I am still dating Jason, and we recently rented our first place together (hence the moving).
I drew these little otters to look like me and Jason, and my cat Emmy (the little grey one in the middle) because otters are adorable and we’re huge dorks that squee over otters pretty regularly.
And don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about my friend portraits or my celebrity portraits, I just have a zillion things I really want to work on and a very small amount of free time to do it all in. I will totally be getting back on both projects soon, but life has been nuts lately. I anticipate slightly less chaos starting in January. Patience is appreciated 🙂
See y’all soon 🙂
Because I had some downtime today and I wanted to practice more 😀
(All without references too, so I’m pretty proud of it 🙂 )
I decided to draw something snuggly today while I was sick!arting, so here ’tis:
*badly supressed laughter*
“Stop giggling, helpless prey isn’t supposed to giggle!”
“Oh, sorry. Just a sec. *clears throat* Ah. Eek. Oh no. Save me.”
“Better, but you could sell it more.”
(We’re smart-asses. In case that wasn’t obvious.)
